Privacy policy

Last updated 22 September 2026

This page explains how Foliobode collects, uses and looks after information about you and your home. It is written for the product as it works today, and is intended to meet the spirit of the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Who we are

Foliobode is a home record at foliobode.com. For privacy questions, use the feedback control in the app.

What we collect

We collect the information needed to run your home record:

How we use it

We use this information to provide Foliobode: your home record, inbox, invitations, sharing, and optional document extraction and “Ask my home” answers. We do not use it for advertising.

We will not sell names, emails, documents, or any record that can identify a household. We will not sell a home-level dataset. We may later sell combined, de-identified statistics — for example suburb-level trends.

Who we share it with

We share information with the services that run Foliobode, and only as needed for that work:

Foliobode does not use advertising analytics or tracking pixels.

Cookies

Sign-in uses Clerk session cookies. We do not set marketing or tracking cookies.

Sharing you choose

If you create a contact share link, it shows only the fields you select and expires after the period you choose. Anyone with that link can see those fields until the link expires or you revoke it.

AI processing

When AI features are enabled, document text or images and excerpts from confirmed home records may be sent to OpenAI so Foliobode can extract details or answer a question. The app asks OpenAI not to store those responses. That request does not, by itself, guarantee that OpenAI keeps nothing.

Retention and deletion

You can archive records and permanently delete source documents from your home. Whole-home and full account deletion are not available in the product yet. If you want help removing your information, send feedback from the app.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, through the feedback control in the app. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
